Live 8 or Live Hate?
The line-up seems pretty cool in Hyde Park, looks as though Bob gave up trying to get decent bands to the venues in Europe though. Poor old Craig David alone in Paris - awww! Meh.
So in random order we have:

Bob Geldof: Funny that really seeing as he is kinda behind most of this. I’m sure we’ll get a nice remminition of “I Hate Mondays” at some point during the gig and lots of his Irish “charm” no doubt.

Snow Patrol: Really looking forward to seeing these people (if I get tickets). Liked their album “Final Straw” and I’m thinking we’ll hear the amazing song “Chocolate”. Love it.

The Cure: Bit of an old school band here (or old people..?). Haven’t really heard much of their stuff really but I have one of their songs, “The Lovecats”. They seem like a bit of an excentric band really but hey, can’t judge them without listening to a decent amount of their stuff, and Bob Geldof isn’t exactly seem very mainstream either.

Velvet Revolver: Ok these people seem very old school, judging from their photo they look like they’re an ’80s band. And I’ve never heard any of their stuff at all…never even heard of them before they were announced for this. Guessing more friends of Bob.

REM: This band I have heard of before - crazy if I hadn’t. Would be great to see these guys live. Love the classics such as “The Great Beyond” and “Man On The Moon” so that would be cool.

Robbie Williams: Quite possibly, only a fool would never have heard of this guy - a real entertainer (poser). Although I’m not really into his stuff, ok, so I have a lot of his songs I wouldn’t mind seeing him live from seeing clips off tv. I’m guessing they’ll be a lot of his big songs like “Angels” and “Let Me Entertain You”.

U2: This band kinda had to be there. They put a lot into the Make Poverty History campaign and I’m thinking Bono and Bob are like that. Would be good to see them perform the greatest song they have made “Greatest Day” but “Vertigo” would be cool too, but apart from that, not really into their stuff too much.

Sting: Hmmm…can’t say I enjoy his stuff really. But again, barely heard any of it, well I can’t even think of one of his songs but I’m sure there are some good ones that I’ve heard but not known. Guess he could be good.

Annie Lennox: Never heard any of this person’s stuff…never heard of this person so um yeah…she seems a bit strange though.

Stereophonnics: Would love to see these people - love their stuff and have like a billion of their albums (ok so maybe not that many but still. I’m sure they’ll play their new song “Dakota” which is pretty amazing but I hope they play “The Bartender And The Thief”.

Coldplay: The almighty Coldplay are playing - doesn’t suprise me really cos Chris Martin is very big up anti-poverty. But they seem a bit depressive to watch. I mean, their “Scientist” song is good and all, but a bit suicidal after a bit.

Snoop Dogg: Hmmmm…well fair enough if he wants to be here. Can’t say I’m into his stuff though but I’m sure out of the 150,000 people there, there’ll be at least 1 fan lol.

Dido: I kinda like her stuff - except I think she gets a bit depressive after awhile too. Guess she’ll probably play that hit..”White Flag” - is pretty good though.

Scissor Sisters: Woo! These people’s music rocks..but the people don’t so much. Saw them on TV at some awards show awhile back and they seem pretty arrogent tbh. But hey, their music is awesome. Most likely they’ll play “Laura”, “Filthy/Gorgeous” and “Take Your Mama Out”. But would be cool to hear “Music Is The Victim”.

Elton John: Well I dunno about this guy, can’t really say I’m a fan but I don’t dislike his stuff. Liking his song with 2Pac at the mo though (Ghetto Gospel). Ah well, shall see.

surely you’re not actually one to talk about hating live 8!!!! And besides - it doesn’t really matter whether or not you like the concert or like the line up (which - you’d be mad not to) becasue it’s the reason begind the concert that really matters … raising awareness and trying to get people more involed in make poverty history and encouraging the richer and more influential countries to do more to help those more drastically in need.
lol - ok, have stopped my ranting now. but then it’s me, what else would you expect.

indeed i did
and i never said i hated live aid, just some people do. everyone knows that the rich should help the poor but basically no-one can be arsed. i mean, would you really give up a load of your money, i mean a serious percentage to give to the poor? i give a bit, but not a lot. everyones the same.

I hate the idea of this live aid shit, why the fuuck is there a pack of multi-millionaires, asking normal people to give their money. if they all did a whip round they could raise loads of money. Besides they all indulge in excessive
celebrity life-styles. for example good old bono spent £2000 flying his favorite hat to italy, hmmmmmm. As far as im concenred the only way ill be giving any money to africa is if i can put the money directly into the hands of those little children.
in my opinion bob and bono are gunning for nobel peace prize ……….. go and fuuck off and sing some songs you pack of bullshiitting hypocrits.

I think live 8 is a load of crap. Were not asking for money - that is complete bunch of crap as well. It is, was and always will be about the money.
Say for instance if USA give billions to Africa - I’ll end up paying for it.
If we are so rich, then why do we have a huge deficit and debt?
We took care of Iraq so the world could sleep at night - let France, Belgium and Germany take case of Africa!

I’m sick of this live 8 rubbish. That’s all that’s on the news, there are still major issues going on, but all we hear about is this. If we keep raising money, we are just going to get ourselves in more debt, and I can’t see the difference it makes. More often than not the money goes straight into the pockets of the directors and only a few pence reaches those in need. Also, I hate the way we feel pressured into giving money to those in need. Ive spent a lot of time earning that money, and if I give money I have even less for myself, if I don’t I’m made out to be tight and cruel. It’s the government’s job to stop giving all the money to illegal immigrants and to give the money to these poor countries.

It wasn’t about the money, no one was asked to give anything other than their names, its about raising awareness and trying to change the unfair aid laws. For example Nigeria borrowed £17 million, and to date has paid back £18 million but still owes £34 million. Its not about being tight and cruel its about giving them the oppurtunity to make enough money to live, rather than crippling them with unfair trade laws. And the point of Live 8 was to put pressure on the 8 world leaders at the G8 summit who have the power to change those laws and to make poverty history. And yes the Hyde Park concert was amazing, I was there.
